Sports & Activities Programme - Season 2 Information

What is the Junior School Sports Philosophy

UWCSEA Sports are aligned with the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, which describes what athletes need to be doing at specific ages and stages of their life.

At the Junior School age, we follow the LTAD Learn to Train concepts where children learn the basic rules, tactics and strategies in games and refine sport-specific skills.

At this level, we believe it is essential that UWCSEA provide opportunities to participate in multiple sports (rather than early specialisation) and that competition is focused on skill development (rather than winning and losing) and retention.

As such UWCSEA offers an extensive range of sports and we aim that activities in our clubs are inclusive, fun and skill-based.

At the end of the Junior School Learn to Train phase we aim that, moving into Middle School, our students have the motivation and ability to either join UWCSEA Active for Life Sports Programmes or Competitive Sports Programmes.

What sporting programmes are available?

UWCSEA offers a variety of free and fee paid Sports options at the Junior School level. A range of free Junior School Sports Clubs that run once a week throughout the year; a broad Community Weekend Phoenix Sports Clubs that run each weekend during term time; Phoenix Aquatics, Gymnastics, Climbing, Basketball and Tennis Programmes coached by highly qualified full time coaching staff and other individual sports including Martial Arts, Golf, Sailing and Climbing coached by external providers.

In addition, we offer a wide range of camps throughout the holidays- Please click here for more information

Where can I find further information on UWCSEA Sports? You can access more information via the e-Brief every Friday and the College Sports website.

The Gymnastics, Swimming and Tennis programmes have separate websites where you can find out about both development and competitive programmes.

Junior School Clubs Days will vary - Please Click here. There are new changes to Junior school sign-ups - parents must sign up for their child. Students are now unable to do this.

*Due to the new safe distancing measures, we may need to cap these activities. Please ensure you select your preferred activity as your first choice to avoid not being allocated*

How do I register?

Registration can be found on the Service and Activities Database through the student portal.

Sign up Tutorial - Please Click here

Primary School parents sign up directly for their child(ren): For Primary School sign-ups, parents will now sign up directly using their parent login details. The Main Sign Up Phase is not first-come, first-served; allocations are based on the indicated preferences in the selection submission.

Enhanced two-phase sign-up process: To accommodate as many students as possible, a Clearing Phase sign-up period has been added to allow for remaining places from the Main Sign Up Phase (i.e., those filled by allocation process) to be filled. In the Clearing Phase, places are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and confirmed immediately upon submission and payment (if required).

Parents have full visibility: Following confirmation of Activities and Service placements, parents will be able to download a printable Activities and Services calendar for all children in their family. Parents will receive any relevant system emails as well as payment requests for any paid activities (Note regarding confirmation of allocations: confirmation of both free activities and payment for paid activities must be completed by the stated payment period deadline or the child’s place will be cancelled).
