UWCSEA Sports are aligned with the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, which describes what athletes need to be doing at specific ages and stages of their life.
At the Junior School age, we follow the LTAD Learn to Train concepts where children learn the basic rules, tactics and strategies in games and refine sport-specific skills.
At this level, we believe it is essential that UWCSEA provide opportunities to participate in multiple sports (rather than early specialisation). That competition is focused on skill development (rather than winning and losing) and retention.
As such, UWCSEA offers an extensive range of sports, and we aim that activities in our clubs are inclusive, fun and skill-based.
At the end of the Junior School Learn to Train phase, we aim that, moving into Middle School, our students have the motivation and ability to either join UWCSEA Active for Life Sports Programmes or Competitive Sports Programmes.
